After the skit Oliver and I kept in touch. He became a small group leader with my dad in my brothers group and I was also in youth. One Wednesday night there was going to be a ugly Christmas sweater party and I was so exited! I had never been to a Christmas party so I couldn't wait for this one. I didn't own a ugly Christmas sweater but my mother did. It wasn't necessarily ugly, it was actually really cute, so I wore it that following week to the party. Once I got there I got so many compliments on how adorable it was.
I couldn't wait till the contest even though i had no clue what the prize was. They started calling all of the contestants on stage withing 40 minutes of being there. Over each head a leader would hold there hand and see who got the loudest screams and whoever did would win. Luckily I had a lot of friends come that night with me and when the hand was over my head my eardrums burst with screams. I had won! I was so happy. Then they judge announced that I had just won two free movie tickets. I walked off the stage and right before I hit the last step Oliver was smiling at me I smiled and walked passed him but right when I did he leaned down and whispered "Now you can take someone on a date." My heart started beating fast, but I kept walking. When it was time to leave and we were all packed up in the car I asked my mom if she thought it would be weird if I asked Oliver to the movies and I made sure to say "friend date" because I didn't want her getting all smug so fast and I wasn't even quite sure my own feelings yet. She smiled ear to ear as I still tried to explain to her that it was nothing but a friendship and wouldn't go anywhere. She wouldn't believe my but I just shrugged it off and asked away. He replied immediately. Absolutely he said. So we went that following weekend. It was the longest week ever, I was secretly so exited. Truth be told this was my first ever date. My parents were strict and I just had never been off with a boy really. He picked me up at about 10:00am. walking to his truck he walked passed his door and went to open mine. I was so shocked, I didn't know guys still did that. I was a tad shy on the way there but 10 minutes into the car ride we were screaming to the radio like best friends. When we got to his movie theater he told me to stay put as he ran over and opened my door, again. I couldn't help but blush. We went and saw "Fantastic Beast and Where to Find Them." It was so wonderful! After the movie we took me to get ice cream then back home. I knew that night me and my family were going to see some Christmas lights and I asked him if he would like to go. Sadly he had to watch his brother tonight and that he actually had to go ahead and leave because his new house he lived in was 45 minutes away from me. I told him I understood and that the evening was so nice.
He didn't hug me before he left and we didn't hold hands any that day either, so I was still going with the whole "we are just going on dates as friends." Nothing else. Until that night, when he asked me out again, and I couldn't believe where.
